4D Building Information Modeling (BIM) Coordination
4D Building Information Modeling (BIM) Coordination addresses the Architectural, Engineering and Construction industries need for Building Information Modeling (4D Models) of existing buildings to enhance project communication and to streamline the delivery process of structural design, detailing, fabrication, construction organization and building life-cycle management solutions for facilities management. With 3D Imaging Services integrated modeling solutions the challenges of the past will be met with the capabilities of the future.
So what’s BIM?
As defined by the National Institute for Building Science (NIBS), A Building Information Model (BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. As such, it serves as a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility, forming a reliable basis for decisions during it’s lifecycle from inception onward.
A basic premise of BIM is collaboration by different stakeholders at different phases of the life cycle of a project to insert, extract, update or modify information in the BIM model to support and reflect the roles of that stakeholder. The BIM is a shared digital representation founded on open standards for interoperability.
